The archive doesn't use dpkg-scanpackages anymore, it uses apt-ftparchive
instead, which does cope with the above, and also does clever
caching stuff too. apt-ftparchive is only available as part of the
(unreleased) apt 0.4 stuff though. There should be debs somewhere under
http://people.debian.org/~jgg/
