dpkg --configure -a cannot resolve the proble since it will work on the
real database and not on the fake files used by YACS.

However can you check if $TDIR/$CODENAME-$ARCH/status is exactly the
same than $BASEDIR/data/potato.status ? (send the diff otherwise)

And please give the values you put in CONF.sh (and check that they are
correctly set in your environment).

If everything seems ok, then remove the status file and try to generate it
again with :
$ make status
You will see errors, correct them with :
$ make correctstatus
