FreeBSD 10.0 and PC-BSD have had issues for some using a USB mice in X
at all, at least according to:

so I wonder if you fixed this already.
I hadn't any problems with HAL yet on kfreebsd-10, though I'm not
hot-plugging anything.
BTW what's up with the defines here?
