Hi,

Recent versions of GRUB 2 can load the kernel directly. Something like
this I think:

        freebsd /boot/kernel
        freebsd_loadenv /boot/devices.hints
        set FreeBSD.vfs.root.mountfrom=ufs:ad0s1
