IPC problems on kFreeBSD: screen and signals
Hi,
another IPC problem which is very annoying is that neither Ctrl-Z nor
Ctrl-C work inside screen and a SIGWINCH isn't passed to programs
running inside screen, either.
I ran irssi inside a screen on Debian GNU/kFreeBSD for a long time and
the first thing I always did after reattaching was switching to a
shell and typing
killall -WINCH irssi zsh
which works fine. But screen doesn't seem to pass any of these signals
on Debian GNU/kFreeBSD.
And starting a new terminal inside screen (or when starting screen
initially) always results in the following error message:
fgtty: Inappropriate ioctl for device
Since screen works on FreeBSD as well Debian GNU/Linux I expected this
to be a similar issue as with other text-mode applications as
described in my previous mail.
But Aurelien told me, screen "tries to do autodetection of the
underlying OS" so it could also just guess the OS wrongly. So this
could be an application bug.
Regards, Axel
