Could you try the python version of dpkg-shlibdeps? You can find it at
http://cvs.debian.org/dpkg-dev/scripts/?cvsroot=dpkg. We also use it
for the Hurd port because we have problems with the current
dpkg-shlibdeps. If it works we could put more pressure on the dpkg
maintainers.
