There has been some progress since Cambridge, e.g. at the MiniDebConf in Hamburg. See the debian-cd mailing list [1], where I requested to add the Debian Live image for GNOME for arm64. Preliminary tests on openQA have shown no major differences in functionality with regard to the amd64 live images.
