I see there are specific runs for UEFI, so it should be possible to detect
this?

Your command:
qemu-system-x86_64 -boot order=d -vga vmware -bios OVMF.fd -L . -m 1024M --enable-kvm -hda ~/qemu-img-disk-10G.img -cdrom /home/ned/installation-images/debian-daily_2022-08-07_amd64-netinst.iso

You have a different configuration compared to the openQA VMs.
Your VM has only 1GB of memory, on openQA the VMs in openQA all have 2GB.

Could you try again with more memory available?

With kind regards,
Roland
