debian-installer has documentation on the network configuration. If you add a
new feature, it would make sense to document this feature in the manual so that
users actually know it's there.

I don't understand how this is related to hardware. You enable an additional
an additional parameter in the manual network configuration, so I assume
(I haven't checked the installation manual) that this new possibility should
be documented in the manual.
