This is a good solution for a problem that also affects the
Installation Guide, since it also lets you leapfrog over the old
problem of what cover-term to use for "CD/DVD/BluRay media" (the
Guide says that it's going to use "CD-ROM", then doesn't - #794936).

The tricky part with this solution is that "medium" is one of those
words that seems to have been designed to confuse and annoy non-native
speakers. A medium is something like newsprint or DVD format. An
individual thing produced in such a medium (a newspaper, DVD, or
whatever) is a "piece/item of media", not a "medium", but this is so
clumsy that we usually just talk about (some) "media".
Unfortunately if you Google for this you'll just find people arguing
about an entirely separate problem: whether "the media" (i.e. the mass
communication industry) is singular or plural.
Sorry, no patch to go with this yet; for a start I'll want to reread
it to see if I agree with myself.

Yes, I for one would be in trouble if I needed to install drivers from
a floppy! Fortunately it's already using plural "media", though with
mangled number agreement - media are "them", not "it". Perhaps it
would make sense to focus on the definitely plural additional drivers?

When it says that the drive (which might for instance be a thumbdrive)
contains something named ${cdname}, I suspect that named thing is an

Two less routine problems, one of which was already here:
1) In English relative clause punctuation rules, adding a comma
before the wh-word means it's a *descriptive* relative clause
(the problem is that you're installing from an installation image,
oh and by the way it contains a limited selection of packages).
What you want is a comma-less *restrictive* relative clause (the
problem is that you're installing from an installation image of
the particular kind identifiable by the fact that it contains a
limited selection of packages).
2) If you're installing from it, obviously it's an installation image.
