I'm sorry to hear you've run into this issue.  A google for:
debian 8 live-cd username password

produced the following top result:

So username=user and password=live.

Ubuntu has the identical behaviour of needing a password when the
screensaver comes up on the live-cd, but their username is ubuntu and
their password is blank.

Nice reference!  Are you referring to The Castle?  If so, I hope you
will find that there are a number of Olga-type characters within the
community who will help you on your quest ;-)
