Bug#844118: debootstrap: APTCACHE for debootstrap
Package: debootstrap
Version: 1.0.86
Severity: wishlist
Dear Maintainer,
For some additional context, please also have a look at the pbuilder
bug:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=432088
Given debootstrap is used in creating a debian chroot rootdir, it
downloads the .debs on the fly.
There are a bunch of assumptions it makes:
1. Network is available
2. Everything should be downloaded
It'd be nice if we could have debootstrap accept a new switch,
--cachedir. This will help a lot, especially in cases where people are
making chroots in a Debian box. Because, in most common cases, the
running Debian instanace may have some .debs available in its cache
folder.
I initially took a jibe at coming up with a patch myself. But from my
initial look at the debootstrap code, I just got lost.
So, in case if you can help, that'd be awesome.
