Bug#571136: Bug#813232: debootstrap: Two-staged bootstrapping with --second-stage broken

I have tested Marco's patch against debootstrap 1.0.78. It applied
cleanly, the package built fine under pbuilder, and it solved the
problem I was experiencing with live-build (see bug #571136 [1]). I
have only verified it using live-build, not using two-staged
bootstrapping directly.
