Bug#774104: failed installation of Debian 7.7.0

Yes, please close the ticket. I completely removed Debian from the computer. Sorry, I've been stuck on various problems with the ThinkPad for several weeks now, and need to move forward, even if the solutions are not ideal. In hindsight I think I should have purchased a ThinkPad with Linux already installed, instead of Win 8.1 and then trying to make the switch. Parts of the BIOS still have imprints from Microsoft a month after I removed Win. thanks for your help! ... Gary

Hi Holger - Good idea; seemed hopeful. But I cannot get to the command
line to add /etc/modprobe.d/disable-nouveau.conf with the recommended
option for nouveau modeset.

I appreciate your help, but will return to Ubuntu 14.04. It gives me an
acceptable user interface that I can use to move ahead, even though it
doesn't flawlessly handle the 2880 x 1620 display resolution on my
ThinkPad W540.

Did you completely remove the Debian installation?
Or could you give it another try to fix the problem?
If you no longer have the installation handy, I will close this bug.

Holger
