Bug#774104: failed installation of Debian 7.7.0

Hi Holger - Good idea; seemed hopeful. But I cannot get to the command line to add /etc/modprobe.d/disable-nouveau.conf with the recommended option for nouveau modeset.

I appreciate your help, but will return to Ubuntu 14.04. It gives me an acceptable user interface that I can use to move ahead, even though it doesn't flawlessly handle the 2880 x 1620 display resolution on my ThinkPad W540.

Thanks very much for your help.

Gary

also hung at the same point.

Seems similar to this one:

Please let us know, if the solution provided there works for you, too.
