Comments/Problems:

Grub worked fine in both flavors (UEFI & Generic).
After booting the kernel, the USB keyboard does not work: becomes unresponsive. Numlock light stays on, but cannot be changed. Changing USB port does not fix. Plugging in keyboard after kernel boot does not work.
Mouse works fine in graphical installer. Network is discovered correctly.
I suspect a kernel command line option will fix it; and this should be possible since the keyboard is fine at this stage.
