Package: debian-installer-7.0-netboot-amd64 Version: 20130613+deb7u2.b3 Hi - can't file with reportbug since it's in a netboot environment. Or at least it's not easy. So I'm typing messages by hand with all the possibilities of typos. ~ # modprobe ata_piix ERROR: could not insert 'ata_piix': Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg) ~ # tail -2 /var/log/syslog <DATE/TIME> <SINCE BOOT> ata_piix: Unknown symbol dmi_check_system_2 (err 0) <DATE/TIME> <SINCE BOOT> ata_piix: Unknown symbol dmi_first_match_2 (err 0) ~ # uname -v #1 SMP Debian 3.2.57-3 This error does not occur if I boot with a 7.6 or 7.7 CD (disk 1). This prevents the detection of my disks on a motherboard with an 82801JIR (ICH10) controller. I will probably work around by temporarily reverting my local mirror to the previous netboot. -- Tom Downes thomas.downes@ligo.org

You should be running a 3.2.63 kernel, rather than a > 3.2.57 one. Looking at the debian-installer-7.0-netboot-amd64 files, > version 20130613+deb7u2.b3, I see that both of those mention 3.2.63-2 > which would be the expected version: > /usr/lib/debian-installer/images/7.0/amd64/gtk/debian-installer/amd64/linux > /usr/lib/debian-installer/images/7.0/amd64/text/debian-installer/amd64/linux Hi again Tom, as confirmed through private mail, there was a missing copy/update of the running kernel, leading to the symbol issue. Closing as this is not a bug. Tom: no worries, I don't call that spam. It could have been a real issue, and bug reports are here to help triage them from user errors. ;) Mraw, KiBi.Attachment: signature.asc
