Bug#596889: flash-kernel: please add ARM-Versatile Express CA9x4 support
Hi,
I was just looking at this rather ancient bug report, is it still
relevant?
It looks like the patch is based on an older version of the code, prior
to the use of the db format from the looks of it (before my time).
I don't see support for any of the other vexpress platforms (i.e. the
newer a15 based ones). Is that worth adding or do modern vexpress's not
boot the same way? At least some of them now have the option of things
like UEFI or u-boot boot.scr or even grub arm-uboot I think (and there
that first stage firmware thing and board.txt, not sure how that fits
in).
In a modern Debian we'd want to support this via the armmp kernel
flavour and perhaps even treat it as a generic platform as discussed in
"archdetect guessing on arm* != armel" on debian-arm recently.
Ian.
