So pressing a key does make a difference?  If the BIOS responds at all
to keystrokes then Fast Boot is probably not enabled.

I don't know where you are, but I think that in the EU and the USA it is
not legal to restrict a warranty in this way.  They have no obligation
to provide technical support for using Linux, though.
