Bug#704779: Thanks a lot!
Hi,
I just wanted to chime in and say thanks a lot! I just bought an Asus
Zenbook UX301LA, and was struggling for half a day trying to install
wheezy on it (7.2 netinst via USB). This machine features UEFI and two
128GB SSDs in some kind of software RAID0. The partitioner worked fine
and detected the RAID0 setup, but grub installation failed exactly like
described in this bug report with 'grub-install: dummy failed'. By
making the change in /boot/grub/device.map as described, I was finally
successful in installing grub. I also made the change to
/etc/initramfs-tools/modules, even though I am not sure if it was
strictly necessary. Bottom-line: after rebooting, I could add the new
grub target to the boot manager in the BIOS (or whatever the thing you
get when you hammer ESC at start up is called), and Debian booted
without issue. So yeah, thanks a lot! I doubt I would have figured this
out myself.
