The official Debian installer images must install Debian-packaged
kernels.  I would oppose introduction of any new kernel flavours that do
not use an initrd, and I don't want to see any new ARM flavours in
general.
my patch uses the armmp kernel, but it doesn't boot as it doesn't build in enough modules.
presumably it would only need the ext4 module built in.
