I can see the X server itself is crashed when I go back to VT1 from
VT4. I also had a look at sublevel1/ml.po, I couldn't spot any issues
(msgfmt -c is happy too).
This is what I see on VT1:

If this server is no longer running, remove /tmp/.X0-lock
and start again.
