Bug#641596: installation-guide: explanation on installing from existing *nix to RAID or LVM
Package: installation-guide
Severity: wishlist
When running the installer, the interface allows the user to setup LVM or RAID in a friendly fashion.
The explanation on installing from an existing Unix system makes no mention of setting these up.
Since one of the reasons for installing from an existing system is to avoid downtime, it is likely to be popular on server systems. These will typically use RAID.
Setting up mdadm and a custom initrd manually are quite daunting tasks, although the debian installer makes them much simpler.
A parallel to this for installing from an existing *nix is thus very desirable.
