Comments/Problems:

Needs a newer kernel, possibly an unreleased one for the Intel 5100
wifi. Note that this is not the wifi normally shipped with this laptop,
but an option that was chosen. I think that one needs madwifi. This page
may have a working method, I ran out of time to try:
http://www.connect-utb.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=46:get-intel-wireless-wifi-link-5100-working-on-ubuntu-804&catid=34:linux

In tasksel, I was suprised to see it did not select the laptop task.
This turns out to be due to this in the logs. Some read error
from the iso on the USB key (which had successfully installed another
machine), which caused laptop-detect to fail to install, w/o indicating
it to the user.

After downloading the desktop task and installing most of it,
it failed. Seems to be due to the same problem, but this was the
1st time I noticed it.

After some manual apt-get -f install and
removing the cdrom entry from sources.list and a re-run of pkgsel, it
continued successfully.

os-prober failed to find windows due to some disk/parittion problem.
I manually configured grub to boot it later.

Install was otherwise successful.

The installed system hibernates to disk and resumes ok. Suspending to ram works,
but comes back toa black screen if X is running. Restarting X fixes the display.
Did not have time to debug further.

Hi,

Thanks for your report.
Closing as it's an installation report from a debian installer version
which isn't supported anymore.
Feel free to test and report any issues against the current debian
installer release (Squeeze RC1) which supports more hardware and also
it's improved.
Thanks!
