Comments/Problems:

First thing I don't like is that even in expert mode, the hardware detection is forced upon you. At the beginning of the installation it lets you choose which modules to load - why does it try to load unselected modules again at the dedicated "Hardware detection" step? And why is this (second) hw detection performed even if you do not select the corresponding item from the menu?

Having to hit enter for every modules options is tedious, that should be opt-in in a way.

The fact that tg3 is not included in the 2.6 kernel hits me hard - I have three motherboards with Broadcom chips onboard.

Sadly the EVMS module does not work yet. The evmsn executable needs ncurses, which is not provided, and the cli found no drives. I'd really like evms-ncurses support in the installer, including booting from evms.

The grub-installer is quite confused about hdc being the first BIOS disk, but that is to be expected I guess.

Other than that, the modularity is great. d-i just needs some maturing.

C.

Hi,

Thanks for your report.
Closing as it's an installation report from debian installer version
which isn't supported anymore.
Feel free to test and report any issues against the current debian
installer release (Squeeze RC1) which supports more hardware and also
it's improved.
Thanks!
