That doesn't happen for me when using your image:
> Image version: http://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/squeeze_di_beta1/amd64/iso-cd/debian-squeeze-di-beta1-amd64-netinst.iso
and using all answers by default (using kvm with a 1GiB virtual HDD).
Are you answering anything differently from the default value? (except
choosing the graphical installer at the CD boot prompt and giving a
password to root)
