Comments/Problems:

eject was not installed even though I selected the desktop task. This is
probably because as of beta3, the netinst CD didn't have eject in that task.
I've checked, and the dailies do have it.

Only other problem encountered during the install is a known issue with
partman partition resize not working with windows partitions if windows
was not cleanly shutdown. Tell it to resize and it immediatly returns to
the menu w/o an error message. I had to boot back into windows and shut
it down; given how slow windows is, that was a sizable fraction of the
total installation time.

Note that the /media/windows shown above was set up manually so my sister can
get at her files from windows, it's not something d-i does (yet, anyway).

Post-install, the gnome desktop was set up quite nicely. I was
especially impressed to see update-notifier immediatly tell me about a
kernel upgrade that was available (newer kernel version than the one on
the CD is now in testing), and work quite easily.

All the hardware worked, except for wifi, an Atheros AR5005G. I
installed madwifi from non-free, and it sees the card, however, it never
authenticates, and the LED for the wireless on the laptop stays red.
Since this matches the laptop's current behavior in windows, I suspect
it's not a software problem..

The mouse is a synaptics touchpad, and its accelleration was badly set
up, making it very annoying to use. I was able to get the touchpad working
better with this stanza. I think these problems are specific to this laptop.

Section "InputDevice"
        Identifier "Synaptics Touchpad"
        Driver "synaptics"
        Option "SendCoreEvents" "true"
        Option "Device" "/dev/psaux"
        Option "Protocol" "auto-dev"
        Option "AccelFactor" "1"
        Option "MaxSpeed" "0.32"
        Option "HorizScrollDelta" "0"
        Option "SHMConfig" "on"
EndSection

Also, tapping and double-finger tapping and other synaptics features
don't seem to work on this laptop.

I haven't tried hibernate to see if it works out of the box. Probably
not, but perhaps I'll get lucky.

Parted can also detect and remove HFS (Mac OS), JFS, NTFS,
UFS (Sun and HP), XFS and ASFS/AFFS/APFS (Amiga) filesystems,
but cannot create, resize or check these filesystems yet.
 .
Note that ReiserFS support is only enabled if you install
the libreiserfs0.3-0 package. Since libreiserfs0.3-0 has been
removed from sarge, ReiserFS support is not compiled in the
 default package.

Description: lib for parsing cmdline parameters
Popt was heavily influenced by the getopt() and getopt_long() functions,
but it allows more powerful argument expansion. It can parse arbitrary
argv[] style arrays and automatically set variables based on command
line arguments. It also allows command line arguments to be aliased via
configuration files and includes utility functions for parsing arbitrary
strings into argv[] arrays using shell-like rules.

Description: loop-AES encryption modules for kernel 2.6.16-2-486-di
This package contains the loop-AES loadable Linux kernel modules
 compiled for kernel 2.6.16-2-486-di
 .
loop-AES can be used to encrypt disk partitions, removable media,
swap space and other devices. It provides measures to strengthen
the encryption: Passphrase seeds, multiple hash iterations, MD5 IV
and use of alternating encryption keys.
 .
Encryption keys can be stored in a GnuPG-encrypted keyfile, which
allows the passphrase to be changed without re-encryption. Keyfiles
can also be encrypted asymmetrically for multi-user access.
 .
This package includes the cipher modules blowfish, twofish and
serpent in addition to the default cipher (AES).
 .
If you compiled a custom kernel, you will most likely need to
compile a custom version of these modules as well. The package
loop-aes-source has been provided for this purpose.

We are closing this installation report for one of the following
reasons:
- it was reported with a pre-lenny version of Debian
  Installer.
- indications in the installation report give the feeling that
the reported problem waslying in another software, unrelated to
D-I, which we can't easily identify.
- indications in the installation report suggest that it may have been
fixed in a more recent version of a D-I component
- it was successful and we forgot closing it..:-)
- it has no information we consider useful

The D-I team is currently in the process of cleaning out the old spool
of installation reports that haven't bene processed yet.

In case you think that the problem you reported has chances to be
still present, please reiterate your installation test with
a more recent image of D-I, if you're in position of doing this.

You'll find daily builds at
http://www.debian.org/devel/debian-installer. We recommend you choose
the netboot image, in the "daily builds section", then choose to
install "squeeze" when prompted.

If some problems are found, please report them with a new bug sent
against installation-reports.

Many thanks for your understanding and your help improving Debian,
past and present.
