Comments/Problems:

Just an information before anything. The only difference from my
computer to
any regular iMac DV+ is that I don't have the apple pro keyboard
anymore,
I'm using a regular USB keyboard with brazillian abnt2 layout. The
second
dialog is the keyboard chooser. When I select "Portugues", it fails and
the
following messages display on log (using alt-f4 to see):

This is the output when I select to choose a keyboard on the main menu

main-menu[247]: DEBUG: Menu item 'kbd-chooser' selected
main-menu[247]: DEBUG: configure kbd-chooser, status: 4
main-menu[247]: DEBUG: configure libc6, status: 0
main-menu[247]: DEBUG: configure libdebconfclient0, status: 0
main-menu[247]: DEBUG: virtual package libdebconfclient0
main-menu[247]: DEBUG: configure console-keymaps, status 0
main-menu[247]: DEBUG: virtual package console-keymaps
kbd-chooser[390]: INFO: Setting debian-installer/serial-console to false
kbd-chooser[390]: DEBUG: mounnting usbdevfd to look for kbd
kbd-chooser[390]: INFO: keyboard type mac: present: false
kbd-chooser[390]: INFO: keyboard type usb: present: unknown
kbd-chooser[390]: INFO: Setting debian-installer/serial-console to false

Then it shows me only one option (USB Keyboard) which I can understand.
When
I press enter, a list of layouts is displayed. But when I select
"Portugues"
which is the layout I have, it fails and the following is logged.

kbd-chooser[390]: INFO: choose_keymap: keymap = mac-usb-pt-latin1
kbd-chooser[390]: INFO: kbd_cooser: setting keymap mac-usb-pt-latin1
main-menu[247]: (process:388): Segmentation fault
main-menu[247]: WANING **: Configuring 'kbd-chooser' failed with error
code 139
main-menu[247]: WANING **: Menu item 'kbd-chooser' failed.

And then it gives me the main menu again.

If I select "Ingles Americano" (American english) it does ok.

If the first fails, everything starts to get strange...
When I rebooted and started again selecting American English keyboard,
it
was much cleaner... Detecting everything without prompting me for
nothing...

One weird thing is that it configures linux-floppy module, therefore the
iMac doesn't have floppy drive at all...

The partitioning doesn't work as well... If I say to it use the entire
disk,
it says that there is no "newWorld boot partition", doen't matter if I
manually configures a partition for that.

But I could say that I don't want to get back to partitioning and
proceed with
the installation, and it proceeded to base system installation...

When I rebooted, it didn't use a wizard, it came up with a menu to
choose
one of the options (that included "Show welcome dialog") and
surprisingly,
there were no way to login after that, just like if it didn't start any
getty...

So I had to reboot again and see what happens...

When I rebooted, again no getty... no way to login, only thing to do was
reboot again, now trying an alternate init...

After that, I discovered, that /dev/tty1 to 6 doesn't exists...
So I changed inittab to use /dev/vc/1 to 6 in getty and rebooted
again...

modconf wasn't isntalled!?!?!?!?!

Soundcard wasn't detected.

devfsd wasn't isntalled (which caused the init problem...)

We are closing this installation report for one of the following
reasons:
- it was reported with a pre-lenny version of Debian
  Installer.
- indications in the installation report give the feeling that
the reported problem waslying in another software, unrelated to
D-I, which we can't easily identify.
- indications in the installation report suggest that it may have been
fixed in a more recent version of a D-I component
- it was successful and we forgot closing it..:-)
- it has no information we consider useful

The D-I team is currently in the process of cleaning out the old spool
of installation reports that haven't bene processed yet.

In case you think that the problem you reported has chances to be
still present, please reiterate your installation test with
a more recent image of D-I, if you're in position of doing this.

You'll find daily builds at
http://www.debian.org/devel/debian-installer. We recommend you choose
the netboot image, in the "daily builds section", then choose to
install "squeeze" when prompted.

If some problems are found, please report them with a new bug sent
against installation-reports.

Many thanks for your understanding and your help improving Debian,
past and present.
