Package: installation-reports Boot method: Squeeze Netinst CD AMD64 alpha1 Image version: alpha1 Date: 27.Aug 2010 Machine: Dell Poweredge R710 Processor: Xeon X5600 Series Memory: 32GB Partitions: makes no sense here Output of lspci -knn (or lspci -nn): installation failes so, makes no sense here. Base System Installation Checklist: [O] = OK, [E] = Error (please elaborate below), [ ] = didn't try it Initial boot: [O] Detect network card: [E] Configure network: [ ] Detect CD: [ ] Load installer modules: [ ] Detect hard drives: [ ] Partition hard drives: [ ] Install base system: [ ] Clock/timezone setup: [ ] User/password setup: [ ] Install tasks: [ ] Install boot loader: [ ] Overall install: [ ] Comments/Problems: All Dell R710 Servers contain a Broadcom network card. For that we need the bnx2 driver which requires some firmware files. These firmware files should reside inside a bnx2/firmwarename subdirectory. If i put all required file on an USB-Stick for third-party driver installation then the firmware-files are not correctly copied to /lib/firmware/bnx2 but instead to /lib/firmware and only one of them. So the third-party driver installation failes. And obviously the netinstall too. 8-) -- Thomas Otto Dipl. Wirtsch.-Inf.
