I probably got the same bug, but not on the installer, but on
regular squeeze system:
$ sudo mkfs.ext4
mkfs.ext4: /lib/libblkid.so.1: version `BLKID_2.17' not found (required by mkfs.ext4)
$ sudo mkfs.ext4
mkfs.ext3: /lib/libblkid.so.1: version `BLKID_2.17' not found (required by mkfs.ext3)
