Package: debian-installer Severity: normal Version: 20091123-00:01 Dear Installer Team, During today's installation I had a small glitch with the partition manager. Basically, it was unable to reload the new partition table into the kernel. Interestingly, doing it manually succeeded and I was able to complete the installation. Relevant excerpt from /var/log/installer/partman: /lib/partman/commit.d/30parted: IN: COMMIT =dev=sda parted_server: Read command: COMMIT parted_server: command_commit() parted_server: Opening outfifo parted_server: OUT: Error parted_server: OUT: Error informing the kernel about modifications to partition /dev/sda2 -- Device or resource busy. This means Linux won't know about any changes you made to /dev/sda2 until you reboot -- so you shouldn't mount it or use it in any way before rebooting. I am attaching the full log file, perhaps it tells somebody the reason. Work around: + switch to another VT (Alt-F3) + hit Enter + at the prompt, type "fdisk /dev/sda" and hit Enter + type "w" <Enter> + switch back to the installer (Alt-F1) Greetings, Torsten
