According to "Debian library packaging guide", the package name should match the
shared library SONAME:

# objdump -p /lib/libdmraid.so.1.0.0.rc15 | \
sed -n -e's/^[[:space:]]*SONAME[[:space:]]*//p' | \
sed -e's/\([0-9]\)\.so\./\1-/; s/\.so\.//'
libdmraid1.0.0.rc15


I asked upstream if is it really upstream's intent to break the ABI and change
the SONAME on every release. From his answer[1], I hope he will fix in the next
release.
