Comments/Problems:

I've used a etch netinstall CD. Network at first didn't work, so I've tried an
unofficial image which included the experimental e1000 driver, needed for the
Ethernet card to work. Once booted with that image, installation went like a
charm! :)

The only thing to note is: unfortunately I couldn't get my wireless card
[1] to work with opensource drivers (bcm43xx), but only with ndiswrapper + .inf.

That's just because the Etch kernel isn't recent enough for your hardware
then. AFAIK the e1000 driver isn't really experimental anymore but is/will
be fully supported with 2.6.23 or 2.6.24.

That's outside the scope of the installer. The installer will automatically
support wireless cards only if free drivers are available. Hopefully more
drivers will become available in the future.

As your installation was basically successful and the only issue will be
solved automatically when the installer switches to newer kernels, I'm
closing your report. Thank you for submitting it and good luck with the new
system.

Cheers,
FJP
