Erm, how do I get the raw partition table? You don't really mean the
block 0 binary data do you?
Each drive of the five drives (sda through sde) has a 250 MB RAID
partition (sda and sdb are also marked bootable), and a 18.0 GB RAID
partitions, both of which are primary.
The first two 250 MB partitions are MD0 RAID1 for /boot
The 18.0 GB are one big RAID 5 partition (LVM), MD1
The remaining 250 MB partitions are MD2 RAID5 (LVM)
the LVM are one VG split into Swap, Root and Var

Comments/Problems:
On reboot the system failed to start, complaining the VG did not exist.
Doing a rescue boot and adding sym53c8xx to /etc/modules and
/etc/initramfs-tools/modules and doing update-initramfs -u
and rebooting worked.
(BTW is it sufficient to put the module in /etc/modules?)
The module is detected correctly during install, but is not added to the
initramfs, thus the breakage.
