How exactly did you do the partitioning? Did you try to use the "guided 
partitioning" option? If you did that, then the failure can be explained 
as it is just not supported.

You should use "manual" partitioning as described on this wiki page:
http://wiki.debian.org/DebianInstaller/SataRaid

Please try again using those instructions.

If you did follow those instructions, then please explain in more detail 
exactly what you did after starting partitioning and where things go 
wrong.
