Package: debian-installer
Version: 20070308etch1
When using the netinst CD for Debian etch 4.0r2, the "installgui"
option loads the normal kernel instead of the one for the GUI
installer. This causes the installation to start in text mode instead
of graphically.
I have not tested any other Debian CDs or DVDs for this bug.

The _kernel_ is identical for the graphical and regular installer. The only
difference is in the _initrd_ that is used.

I have just verified that for 4.0r3 the graphical installer is started
correctly when the installgui option is selected. I also doubt that the
4.0r2 image was really broken in this respect.

It is however possible that there is some problem loading the framebuffer
driver on your system, or that the system just has insufficient memory to
run the graphical installer. In both cases it will automatically fall back
to the textual user interface.

As the issue you reported does not exist, I'm closing this report.

Cheers,
FJP
