reassign 456623 partman-base tags 456623 help thanks On Monday 17 December 2007, Josh Triplett wrote: > When installing a virtual machine, I'd really like to use the entire > unpartitioned virtual disk as a filesystem, rather than partitioning > it. This is typically a case where the person who wants the functionality will most likely have to provide the patches if he really wants to see this implemented (or find someone else interested in working on it). Note that this concept violates quite a few of the basic assumption in partman and thus may be hard (or too invasive) to implement in partman. A possible solution could be an alternative (simplified) partitioner, which would need: - to provide similar pseudo packages to partman in order to satisfy dependencies of later components - be included in the menu _before_ partman But at the same time that would effectively make it unsuitable to be included in the regular installation flow. It would be far better if it could be implemented inside partman somehow. Therefore reassigning to partman-base (also for a lack of a better place). Note that we may decide to close this BR at some point if no progress is made on it. Cheers, FJP
