Package: discover1
Version: 1.7.19
Severity: normal
discover says I have hw_random:
# discover --enable=pci --module bridge
intel-agp
intel-agp
hw_random
i810-tco
# discover --enable=pci --model bridge
82845 845 (Brookdale) Chipset Host Bridge
82845 845 (Brookdale) Chipset AGP Bridge
82801 PCI Bridge
82801BA ISA Bridge (LPC)
#
But, /var/log/boot says I can't use hw_random:
20:40:46 2007: Loading hw_random module...
20:40:47 2007: FATAL: Error inserting hw_random
(/lib/modules/2.6.15-1-686/kernel/drivers/char/hw_random.ko):
No such device
Who is correct? (I report this to discover1 because I don't know
who is the other party. Sorry :-)
Regards,
Ryo

The kernel would be the other party. In this case, assume the kernel is
correct. The error message is harmless, but if you want, you can get rid
of it by blacklisting the hw_random module under /etc/discover/ (if I
remember correctly).
The fact that discover-data lists the module for your device is probably
_not_ a bug as there can be other hardware with the same identification
that does support the hw_random module.
This is a fairly common issue. Closing your report as there is not bug.
Cheers,
FJP
