Okay, but I wonder where eth0 went.
Does you computer have a FireWire interface?
( FireWire is also known as IEEE 1394 )

You have encountered a hardware detection problem that
has not yet reported before.

(other installs don't need the interface= parameter)



Was this the first Linux install on this new hardware?
How went the other Linux installs?
