Bug#407460: USB ethernet interface renamed after installation on NSLU2 which causes the system to be inaccessible

it sounds to me like the built in nic is getting detected first before the USB to ethernet adaptor, udev should then swap the names back to those used at install time.
It looks like it is renaming the usb to ethernet to a temporary name (nessacery for a swap operation) but failing to rename the built in nic for some reason.
