Package: installation-reports

daily/arch-latest/i386/iso-cd/debian-testing-i386-netinst.iso

Date: 20061124

Machine: Machine: Toshiba Laptop Satellite S320cds
Partitions: hda1	3,9 GB ext2 as /
hda2	96 MB as swap	(but I tried
			several different schemes, read further)

Comments/Problems:

too things on low memory install:

1. when running low memory install in expert mode, the
   execution of kbd-chooser fails (segmentation fault;
"Configuring 'kbd-chooser' failed with error code 139")

When running as default mode all works fine. ~:|
And, as said, only occures on machines which require
   low memory install.

2. ext3 creation on low memory machines.
There has been a bugreport on nslu2 where creating
1GB ext3 partitions failed (ran out of memory) when
   swap partition was to small.
   I have here a 4GB hard disc and I wasn't able to
create a ext3 partition of this size (tried with
different swaps, max was 128 MB). Progress bar froze
   everytime at 33%.
	- Perhaps only use ext2 in low memory installs?
	  (don't provide the ext3 udeb)
	- Or some note in the manual about this situation?

Syslog file is attached (see line 253 for kbd-chooser
segmentation fault).

Thanks
Holger
