The kernel should be loading the forcedeth driver for it.
Could you boot the installer again and, when DHCP fails, switch to VT2:
Did it with Oct 19 Amd64 Netinstall Image
Boot parameters: expert acpi=off
(If not it stops booting at :
Initializing Cryptogtaphic Api
.
.
io scheduler cfq registered)
- check if the driver is loaded ('lsmod')
lsmod says:
Module size Used by
. . .
. . .
forcedeth 36492 0
- check with 'dmesg' if the NIC was correctly initialized (no error
messages where it is recognized)
dmesg:
forcedeth: using HIGHDMA
eth 0: forcedeth.c :subsistem: 01043:8169a bound to 0000:00:14.0
eth 1394:eth1: IEE-1394 Ipv4 over 1394 Ethernet (fw-host0)
- check if the interface is up with 'ifconfig'
ifconfig:
(My note:) Interface does not show up, (only loopback)
- see if you can get a lease by running 'dhclient' manually
dhcclient:
says
Network is down.
I hope this helps.
