Comments/Problems:
* base-install worked fine
* base-config worked, but was unable to identify the graphics chip
[intel 945GM] so I have to use vesa driver to get X running
- thanx for the quick help from bugs.debian.org
* didnt yet check all the builtin peripherals / devices of the notebook
* why isnt fetchmail included in the default desktop-environment
packages?
* would be nice to have a "back to previous screen" function
in base-config - I selected wrong item, intuitively tried to
<ESCAPE> back - that of course didnt work but caused base-config to
continue with next step and as beginner it was hard for me to find out
the right config-tool afterwards.
* in all HowTos RUNLEVEL 2 is said to be an environment without X.
But in this installation it seems to be identical with RUNLEVEL 3
Dont like that cause I like the black&white 80x25 Linux - still
exploring how to switch without reboot...
* the greatest moment during installation was when I pressed ENTER to
start partitioning: Kill WinXP - I want LINUX!!
