 I was pointing out that avoiding the problem was not going to solve it.
 But yes, aptitude is correct in its handling of Recommends (except
 perhaps when Recommends are added to packages).  I think already
 mentionned the apt update which should go a long way in helping us fix
 the situation.


 I recall the mention of tasksel not honoring Recommends back when I
 added the rhythmbox -> avahi Recommends which resulted in lots of
 flames from people not agreeing on what should be installed by default
 (me included).
   In the end, the package doesn't get installed currently despite this
 being the wish of the package maintainer.  I'm not sure this is a good
 situation, and I'm not too happy that I can't enforce my decision.  I
 certainly don't want to add a Depends just to make my point, as it
 would be technically incorrect, yet I really wish my Recommends would
 be honored (or debated in the tech-ctte).
