This can be explained by the fact that Debian does not include some drivers in main and the Debian Installer currently does not include non-free modules nor loading separate firmware (the latter seems to be the problem in your case). > With Ubuntu, the installation works fine. Debian has a different policy for including drivers and firmware that are non-free according to Debian's Free Software Guidelines.
