This is indeed technically extremely difficult with a very high risk of
resulting in a broken system in corner cases.
Anyway, a large part of the installation (hardware-detection and such
would need to be done again anyway.

Also, the log is kept in memory for most of the install and will therefore
be lost on loss of power.

As this is very unlikely to be implemented, I'm closing the report.

closed is innapproprate just because a feature is difficult to
implement.  wishlist, however, is quite the contrary (for any feature
request, and also for any bugs that are very difficult to fix due to
major design considerations).
