This is because the modules of the kernel are not on the CD. So it can't load them. The kernel is 2.6.15, while it seems that the udebs of 2.6.16 are on the CD.

Known issue which should be fixed with tomorrow's images.

Thanks for your report though. Closing this one, but feel free to file a 
new report after you try the new images.
