XB-Installer-Menu-Item can be seen as an API. Maybe it should stay like it is currently until etch is released? After etch release, it would be easier to correct every udeb, and add a note about the switch in the documentation, than to have compatibility hacks, IMHO. Regards, -- Jérémy
