-- MARK --, aka yes, I am still doing d-i work

I thought that since I said I'd do d-i testing Tue and Wed, and it's
now Sunday morning, that I'd best post a note saying I haven't
forgotten the project. I didn't get to d-i stuff until Thu due to
fighting with buggy software on another project.

I have a few problem areas that I'll be addressing the with getting
debian-powerpc installed. Part of the problem is documentation (I'll
be submitting patches once I've figured out procedures that work), and
part of the problem is that as the install process exists on old world
mac, it's very easy to end up with a non-bootable system.

Part of the issue is trying to get dual boot working (e.g. in my
report I'll mention that quik being installed automatically is a bad
thing, because it doesn't support dual boot; on old world mac dual boot
means bootx (AIUI yaboot is for new world). Also there are gotchas
like boot (and maybe root, I'm not sure yet) must be ext2, for quik
boot and root must be the same partition, and that for hd-media install
the .iso to use can't be on an hfs+ partition. I'll have full details
when I write things up.

I think for my next install I'm going to see about getting an all-linux
install working, before worrying about dual-boot.

So I am working on this, just not as quickly as I had hoped.

Cheers,

Daniel

And that's my crabbing done for the day. Got it out of the way early,
now I have the rest of the afternoon to sniff fragrant tea-roses or
strangle cute bunnies or something. -- Michael Devore
