Agreed. I'm first reassigning this to cdebconf even though I'm not sure this really belongs to that package. Indeed, at any point in the installer, all non ASCII input in select questions is unproperly handled. PS: I'm afraid I don't know the right syntax that allows to mention that a bug is blocked by another block. Seems that the BTS online documentation is not up-to-date when it comes at this feature.
